Wall Art

Rainbow seems to be following in Sunshine’s footsteps when it comes to wall art…but with less artistic flair at the moment! Somehow whensticky_stuff_remover_liquid_large my back was turned she decided to go and sit on the stairs and scribble with red crayon on the wallpaper…on a painted wall I can cope with but wallpaper!? Whilst I was chatting to my childminder in when I picked her up, she told me about Sticky Stuff Remover and even better than that she lent me her bottle!

It took the crayon off the wallpaper and even off the paint in the living room (an early Sunshine scribble) leaving not a trace except a lovely orangey smell! I will definitely be getting some of this to keep under my sink!! As for Sunshine’s flower…well…I’m not quite ready to get rid of that yet!

Family Portrait

A little while ago we went to Venture fro some family photos. This was the result! Sunshine helped Peter put it on the wall. It was a complicated task which involved, measuring, measuring, spirit levels, plumb bobs a bit more measuring. Then some drilling (which Rainbow didn’t like) and then finally the picture was up! It seems to have transformed the room…I love it!

Hits the Spot!

It’s been a trying few days in the house of Allen, so as a respite for all Peter took Sunshine out this afternoon under the pretence of looking for getting a new vacuum. And Sunshine came home bearing gifts for me, Rainbow and Gran. Rainbow was bought a book (it had to be a board book otherwise she might rip the pages), Gran was bought a ‘breakable’ heart (I think it was made of some sort of soapstone) and I was bought a Homedics Spot foot massager in purple! Sunshine was at first drawn to the colour and when she quizzed Peter about what it was for decided that it was perfect for me as I had hurt my foot this morning by standing on a toy or some such thing…She only discovered that it vibrated under pressure in the checkout queue -to much amusement! Anyway, I really should be more careful about what I say in front of her…I just mentioned that we should keep it away from Rainbow so she doesn’t sit on it (there is another story here…). So Sunshine swiftly ran off with it and sat on it and…EEEK!…well, it’s away in the cupboard now! Sunshine decided it needed to go in the medicine cabinet…hmmm safest place I think!

Yuck!

Yuck!, originally uploaded by ekkyp.

Sunshine did some food tasting at nursery this week and for some strange reason said she didn't like brussel sprouts (which certainly wasn't true at Christmas!). Anyway, to reinforce this fact she drew a picture of a monster spitting out a brussel sprout and it is my favourite picture this week, maybe even for June, possibly the year so far!

Sunshine-isms

Whilst discussing sharks at storytime last night, Sunshine announced:
"Boy sharks eat people. Girls sharks are more sensitive and don't eat people."

And a couple of weeks ago Sunshiine decided that it was really Rainbow's 2nd birthday today as her first birthday was "...when she came out of Mummy's tummy."

Well...what can you say to that...?

Night Out

Last night Peter and I went on our first night out, without kids, for about 2 1/2 years! We went to Tori and Glenns wedding reception in Hartley Wintney. I will admit it was a bit strange being out without the girls, a bit strange being at a wedding party where we knew no-one (Peter knew the bride and the groom’s mother!), but today I felt tired but relaxed!

I had lined up a babysitter -Jess who we met when she was doing work experience at Sunshine’s nursery –although getting closer to going out time we were wondering if it was a good idea as Sunshine was a bit hyped up! But it all went well, Sunshine went to bed nicely and Rainbow stayed asleep. Needless to say, we will be making more of an effort to go out every now and again!
